We are excited to welcome David Koina

We are excited to welcome David Koina to the Youth Futures Community School family as our new Head of School across our Clarkson and Joondalup campuses.

David brings more than 30 years of educational leadership experience across Government, Catholic, and Independent school settings, spanning Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. He has served in roles including Principal, Deputy Principal, and Foundation Principal, and has a remarkable track record of building school cultures where every young person feels safe, valued, and capable of success.

Our Joondalup campus, a modern and welcoming space where young people come to learn, grow, and build their futures.

What makes David such a natural fit for Youth Futures is the genuine alignment between his values and ours. His career has been shaped by a deep commitment to trauma-informed, relationship-centred practice, the same foundation that guides everything we do across our campuses.

He has worked with young people facing disadvantage, disengagement, and complex life circumstances, and he understands that when students, staff, and families feel genuinely supported, real growth becomes possible.

“David’s appointment is a really exciting moment for our Clarkson and Joondalup communities. He brings a depth of experience and a genuine commitment to young people that aligns perfectly with who we are at Youth Futures. I’m looking forward to seeing the culture he builds and the difference he’ll make for our students.” — Paul Jones, Principal, Youth Futures Community School

David has extensive experience working with diverse communities, including Indigenous, regional, and remote contexts.

He is known for his calm, collaborative, and values-driven leadership style, qualities that will be a wonderful asset to students and staff across both campuses.

“I’m genuinely honoured to be joining the Youth Futures family. This is a school community that truly walks its values, and for someone who has spent their career working with young people who just need the right environment to shine, that means everything.” — David Koina, Head of School, Clarkson & Joondalup
