Flexible support for young parents

The Nest supports young parents who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or unsafe living situations. The program provides flexible, trauma-informed, person-centred case management and practical parenting support.

The Nest focuses on strengthening safety, stability and parenting capacity, while helping young families build confidence, independence and long-term housing security.

The Nest aims to:

 

  • Provide strength-based parenting support
  • Support access to maternal health services, playgroups and early learning
  • Strengthening confidence, independence and long-term stability
  • Strengthening parent-child relationships and healthy development

Nest Outreach Program

Nest Outreach Program
Nest Outreach delivers outreach case management across the northern corridor. Case workers meet young parents in the community and support them to build parenting capacity in ways that are meaningful to their goals and needs.

Support may include:

  • Practical support for young parents (resources and essential baby items)
  • Support navigating housing instability and referral pathways
  • Ongoing engagement to reduce isolation and improve stability

Eligibility

  • Aged 15–21
  • Single parent
  • Pregnancy or child up to 2 years

    Nest Housed Program

    In-reach transitional accommodation
    The Nest Housed Program provides in-reach (transitional) accommodation in Perth’s northern suburbs for young parents who are experiencing homelessness or unsafe housing.

    Support may include:

    • Independent living skills and daily life skills
    • Developing tenancy skills to sustain housing
    • Connecting parents and children to community support
    • Supporting pathways into long-term housing

    Eligibility

    • Aged 16–19
    • Single parent
    • Last trimester of pregnancy or one child up to 2 years
    • Priority waitlisted with Department of Housing and Works
    • Receiving a Centrelink income
    • Demonstrated readiness to live independently
    • Willing to engage consistently with goals and support
