Building Holistic Wellbeing at Youth Futures
At Youth Futures, we know that supporting young people means looking at the whole picture — their mental, emotional, physical, cultural, spiritual, and social wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of families, staff, and communities.
As Head of Student Wellbeing, Kristy is leading the development of a purposeful, organisation-wide wellbeing framework that puts consistency, care, and community at the centre.
“We’re building a clear, structured approach that makes sure every young person, staff member, and family receives the right support at the right time.”
A Holistic Framework for Youth Wellbeing
This holistic wellbeing framework includes multi-layered supports for young people such as:
-
Mental health literacy programs
-
In-house psychological services
-
Upcoming training in trauma-informed practices like the Berry Street Education Model
-
Partnerships with external organisations supporting youth wellbeing
It also extends to staff wellbeing, with reflective practice, supervision, peer support, and professional learning opportunities that promote a healthy workplace culture.
Supporting Families and Communities
Families are part of our journey too. In 2026, we plan to introduce parent and caregiver workshops that support emotional regulation, digital wellbeing, and stronger connections between home and school.
Continuous Improvement and Data-Driven Support
Evaluation and continuous improvement are also central to Kristy’s work.
“Collecting and acting on data and feedback is essential — it keeps us responsive to the real needs of young people and our communities,” she says.
By grounding our work in evidence and lived experience, Youth Futures ensures that our youth wellbeing programs remain responsive, effective, and sustainable.
Our Commitment to Holistic Wellbeing
As Mental Health Week approaches, Youth Futures remains committed to holistic wellbeing that goes beyond mental health — creating consistent, supportive environments where young people, staff, and families can thrive.
