Real People, Real Change: The Transformation Behind One Call
From Rachael Nudds, Head of Homelessness
It starts with one call, and a bold new vision.
Big things are happening at Youth Futures across our homelessness and support services. Under new leadership, we’re becoming more focused, intentional, and grounded in what truly matters: supporting young people at one of the most critical points in their lives.
Every journey often begins with one brave call. On the other end is now a dedicated and compassionate central intake team, ensuring young people are connected to the right supports, at the right time, with the young person at the center of every decision.
Behind that first call stands a re-energised organisation. With Michelle Jenkins as CEO, myself as Head of Homelessness, Liz Lalor leading our Accommodation Services, and Helaina Dunn coordinating our Homelessness and Support programs, we are driving a new chapter. One grounded in trauma-informed practice, strengthened partnerships, and the unwavering work of our purpose-driven Youth and Case Workers who walk alongside young people each day.
From early outreach through to long-term housing, our services have an impact. Whether a young person needs emergency accommodation, help settling in a new country, or a safe place to reset and rebuild, we want to be part of their next chapter.
Our vision is simple but powerful: that every young person who enters our programs feels supported, seen, and safe.
At TINOCA, one of our crisis accommodation services, this vision is already taking shape. The program has been reimagined, young people now have daytime access, longer stays, and a model that truly prioritises outcomes over outdated systems.
This is change with purpose, aligning our programs with our values, our integrity, and above all, with the voices and needs of young people.
