Youth Futures today acknowledges and thanks James Sutherland as he concludes his tenure as Deputy Chair and Director, following more than eight years of dedicated service.
Since joining the Board in 2017, James has helped guide Youth Futures through a period of significant growth, strengthening our ability to support young people and expanding our impact across the community.
His leadership has been grounded in a genuine commitment to creating brighter futures — something felt not only within the organisation, but by the many young people whose lives have been positively influenced by his contribution.
James played a key role in shaping what is now the Big Yellow Pipeline Challenge, an initiative that continues to inspire community connection while raising vital funds to support vulnerable young people.
Youth Futures CEO, Michelle Jenkins, acknowledged James’ lasting contribution:
“James has given Youth Futures an extraordinary level of commitment, care, and leadership over many years. He has consistently championed opportunities for young people and helped position our organisation for the future. On behalf of our Board, staff, and the communities we serve, I extend my sincere thanks to James for the difference he has made. While we will miss his presence at the Board table, his legacy will continue to be felt across our organisation.”
Youth Futures Chair, Kellie Benda, also recognised James’ contribution and the strong foundation he leaves behind:
“James departs with our sincere gratitude and with Youth Futures well placed for the future. As a Board, we remain focused on thoughtful growth, strong governance, and delivering lasting impact for young people. We are confident in the organisation’s direction and excited about the opportunities ahead.”
Youth Futures is deeply grateful for James’ generosity, insight, and unwavering belief in our mission. We wish him every success in his next chapter and look forward to maintaining a strong connection into the future.
