Around the world, Hub models are popping up in education, especially in schools like ours that champion at-risk and diverse young people. And it’s no wonder why - they’re proving to be a game-changer in keeping students engaged, helping them thrive, and setting them up for success both in school and in life beyond the classroom.
So, what’s a Hub all about? Imagine one central place where academic support, health services, mentoring, and other resources come together under one roof. It’s an idea that started in community learning centres and has blossomed globally into a holistic way to meet students’ academic, social, and emotional needs, all in one go.
Here at Youth Futures Community Schools, we’ve rolled out this Hub model across Years 8 – 12 to bring education and support closer together for our young people. We’re proud to now have four Hubs, in Clarkson, Midland, Caversham, and Albany, each one a welcoming space where students can find everything they need. From the modified West Australian Curriculum for years 8 and 9 and vocational courses in Years 10, 11 and 12, to mentoring, career guidance, and tailored personal support, our Hubs are designed to give every student the tools to shine and build a future they’re excited about.
The HUB model is about more than just space — it's a connected network of support, where students can move seamlessly across hubs and always find the guidance, resources, and community they need to grow. Together, we create a flexible, student-first environment where every pathway leads to possibility.
